WAR BADGES Halal & Haim
In my third year of academic studies, I created a project in a design course focused on complex processes, crafting a series of nine weavings inspired by Israel’s War Badges (A military decoration usually awarded to all soldiers in the army who took part in a campaign or war) up to 2022. While the weavings initially capture the aesthetic completeness of the original symbols, each undergoes a deliberate disruption, reflecting the underlying fractures and sacrifices associated with each War Badges. Accompanying each weaving are the war’s name, date, and the number of IDF martyrs.
